1. A Solid Lead Capture Form is a Game-Changer
The inquiry process is your first chance to set expectations and avoid headaches later. In my biz, brides must inquire through our lead capture form, and I highly recommend you do the same!
Here’s what I include on my form:
- Service Timing Expectations – Brides need to know how long each service takes upfront.
- Start Time Awareness – Some venues won’t allow early entry, so let them know an early start might be necessary.
- Minimum Booking Policies – So they don’t try to remove services last-minute (because, no thank you!).
This keeps everything organized and prevents those frustrating last-minute surprises.
2. Your Contract is Your Best Friend
Babe, if it’s not in the contract, it doesn’t exist. Your contract should outline everything that could potentially cause delays, stress, or issues on a wedding day.

Some must-haves:
- No touching my kit or using my supplies (we are not a free-for-all makeup counter!)
- Access to tables & working electrical outlets
- Clear travel fee policies – Brides need to know that travel fees aren’t just about gas. They cover your time, wear and tear on your car, parking, tolls, and any necessary accommodations. Make sure your contract states exactly how your travel fees work so there’s no confusion later!
- Air-conditioned getting-ready space (yes, seriously!)
Funny story: One of my first weddings was in a church in the middle of July, and there was NO AC. That bride’s makeup did NOT stand a chance in that heat. Ever since, my contract requires an air-conditioned space if I’m going to guarantee results. Lesson learned!
3. Send a Prep Checklist Before the Wedding
I send this one to two months before the wedding, but at the very least, two weeks ahead is a must. Your prep checklist should cover:
- Hair & Skin Prep – What to do (and avoid) leading up to the wedding.
- How to Arrive – No wet hair, no leftover makeup.
- What the Bride Needs to Provide – Tables, chairs, outlets near windows, etc.
Brides sign contracts months in advance and forget things. This checklist reminds them of your policies and reinforces your professionalism—win-win!

4. Confirm the Time Frame in Advance
In my business, we don’t schedule people by name—we work with time blocks instead. Here’s how it works:
- We confirm a start time and end time with the bride.
- Everyone getting a service must be present at the start time—no exceptions.
- This keeps our team efficient and ensures everyone is done on time.
Confirming this at least one month in advance gives the bride time to coordinate with her venue or hotel if needed. And let’s be real—it makes us look super organized and professional too!
Final Thoughts
Babe, how you operate from the time a bride inquires to the moment you complete her service matters. Every single interaction shapes her impression of you and your brand. Implementing these tips will not only make your job easier, but it will also create a luxury-level client experience that brides will remember (and rave about!).
